KOHIMA: The Isaak-Muivah faction of the Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagalim (NSCN-IM) has blasted interlocutor R N Ravi for a speech that he delivered at the recent Republic Day celebrations in Kohima terming it as "nothing better than habitual lying tongue."

in an editorial in its bi-monthly mouthpiece 'Nagalim Voice', the NSCN-IM said, "Ravi's speech was vicious in background, venomous in content, and vitriolic in delivery."

Accusing Ravi of "violating the spirit of the Framework Agreement", the editorial added that "Ravi's absurdity reached the boiling point for his glorification of the Naga People's Convention's 16-point agreement."

The NSCN (IM) said that there was a lot of skepticism that Ravi could deliver justice to the Naga political issue given "his dubious background as IB's special director."

"It is a matter of record that the IB (Intelligence Bureau) gained notoriety in Naga history for its disruptive and intrusive role that led to the much-despised 16 Point Agreement. Needless to say, the IB had been meddling in Naga affairs with destructive accuracy," the NSCN-IM further wrote in its editorial.

Nagaland Governor RN Ravi last Tuesday put the Isak-Muivah faction of National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-IM) in his line of fire saying the Centre’s initiative to resolve the Naga political issue was yet to bear fruit due to “unrealistic intransigence of some people” who are unwilling to forsake the politics by gun.

Without naming the NSCN-IM, Ravi said, “The latest initiative since the last 24 years could not fructify as yet due to unrealistic intransigence of some people who are unwilling to forsake the politics by gun.”

Ravi's speech was made against the backdrop of the Naga peace talks having reached a stalemate with the Centre unwilling to yield to the NSCN-IM's demand for a separate flag and a Constitution.
