Guwahati (Assam), September 30, 2018:

The Myanmarese Nagas in insurgent group National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-K) on Sunday alleged that the outfit’s “impeached” chairman Khango Konyak, who is an Indian Naga, was playing into the hands of Indian spy agencies.

The allegation came two days after an Indian Naga rebel leader Isak Sumi, who is the spokesman of NSCN-K, claimed Konyak is still the group’s chairman.

The Myanmarese Naga insurgents alleged Khango had joined hands with Indian agents.

On Friday, Sumi had asserted that Konyak was still the “legitimate chairman and president”.

Sumi said a “handful of kilonsers (ministers), deputy kilonsers and middle-ranking Naga Army officers, belonging to Pangmi Naga tribe, were behind the “failed coup” against Konyak and they were instigated by some Manipuri extremist groups and the Paresh Baruah faction of United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA).
