KOHIMA: NSCN(K) has questioned the motive and objective behind killing Atoka Kinimi at a time 'when all Nagas were yearning for peace'.

This comes after its Addl secretary was killed in a factional clash between two groups of NSCN in Nagaland’s Peren district.

The firing between NSCN-K (Niki Sumi group) and NSCN-Unification took place near Khehoi camp area in Peren district on Sunday night.

In a press statement issued by MIP NSCN it was claimed  "NNPGs have been making a hue and cry, claiming that the negotiations are over, even before NSCN/GPRN revived it's ceasefire agreement but ever since, we revived the ceasefire agreement, the NNPG's have somehow started to believe that NSCN/GPRN can grant them solution by brutally gunning down our Addl. Secretary Atoka Kinimi and also spreading malicious propaganda of our government to achieve their solution".

It further claimed that Ghukato Assumi, the then GPRN Secretary of NSCN/GPRN was brutally gunned down in the heart of the Zunheboto town, which triggered the conflict between between the two groups.

"At one point of time, GPRN/NSCN agreed to co-operate with the demands made by NSCN (IM) to the Government of India. Backtracked on their decision, when they formed the NNPG's and cold hearted murdered maj. Toishe of NSCN (IM) in Dimapur and thus the conflict with NSCN(IM) ensued if the NSCN(IM), could give the NNPG's desired solution", it added.

It further said that it would welcome NNPGs if they can come up with 'constructive suggestions rather than destructive criticisms for strengthening the Naga political talks'.

"It is a no-brainer to even slightly imagine that fraticidal acts among us will benefit the Naga Political talks in any way", it added.

It added that NSCN had decided to give peace a chance healing to the call of Nagas to end bloodshed. Therefore it has left it to the wisdom of the Naga people to introspect profoundly on the events that have transpired.

It reaffirmed its stand for peace concludingly.
