NTPC withdraws load shedding regulation in Meghalaya: James Sangma

SHILLONG: The load shedding regulation imposed by the Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Limited (MePDCL) in the state has been withdrawn, informed the state cabinet minister James Sangma.

The union minister said that the development come after his official meeting with union power minister in New Delhi on March 3.

“After my official visit to New Delhi on March 3rd 2021 to meet with Union Power Minister, I'm delighted to inform that the @ntpclimited, has withdrawn the load shedding regulation. I would like to thank our CM @SangmaConrad & Sh @RajKSinghIndia for having addressed this matter,” minister James Sangma tweeted.

Chief minister Conrad K Sangma also took to Twitter and wrote, “Happy to inform that @ntpclimited has withdrawn the load shedding regulation. Thank Hon'ble Union Minister of State, Sh. @RajKSinghIndia ji for his intervention and State Power Minister, Sh. @JamesSangma1 for diligently pursuing the matter.”

MePDCL had imposed load shedding to its consumers across the state on a rotational basis due to the low water level of Umiam reservoir and regulations of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL).
