Offices to remain open on holidays in Assam’s Hailakandi until election
HAILAKANDI: In view of the forthcoming Assam legislative assembly election, government offices will remain open on Sundays and other holidays till the election process is over.
Additional Deputy Commissioner cum Incharge Personnel Cell, Narendra Kumar Shah issuing an order today directed all the heads of offices to keep their establishments open till 6.00 pm every day including Sundays and all gazetted holidays for receiving poll related appointment letters and orders relating to engagement in various cells which may include SST/VST/FST/Zonal Officers/Sector Officers etc.
According to the order, a skeletal staff may remain in the offices during gazetted holidays and Sundays to receive election-related correspondence.
Furthermore, the order instructed officers and employees of all categories to respond phone calls from the Personnel Cell and other election-related cells with “due priority and patience.”
They have also been asked to keep their cellphones and WhatsApp active (switched on and on standby mode (24 hours a day) until the election is completed.
“Any officer or worker found not responding to phone calls during the election process will be considered as insubordinate and disciplinary action will be taken in accordance with applicable Sections of the Representation of the People Act, 1951,” the order said.
