Olympic medalist Lovlina Borgohain gets home in luxury car

GUWAHATI: Car company Renault has gifted Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 Bronze Medalist Lovlina Borgohain its luxury brand car KIGER in Guwahati on Friday as a token of appreciation for bringing laurels to the state as well as the nation.

Speaking on the occasion the ace pugilist said, “I am very happy to receive the gift. Although I know how to drive I never drove much. But now I will.”

“My responsibilities have increased now. Paris Olympics is not only my dream but now it has become the dream of the entire nation. So, I will fulfill that dream,” she added.
Along with this luxury car, many other gifts and perks poured in for Lovlina since the moment her victory was announced.

Here is the list of gifts Lovlina Borgohain will be taking home-

A DSP position in Assam Police: The ace pugilist will be appointed as DSP in Assam Police as a small token of gratitude.

One time award of Rs.1crore and monthly stipend: She has also been awarded an amount of Rs 1 cr and a monthly scholarship of Rs 1 lakh till next Olympics.

A slice of ‘Gahoree’: Along with these perks, Lovlina will also get supply of packaged pork ‘A Slice of Gahoree; to Lovlina for next 5 years.

A sports complex: A sport complex worth Rs 25 crore will be set up Lovlina Borgohain’s native place Sarupathar which will be equipped with a boxing academy for honing budding sports talent.

A road in her name: A road in Guwahati would also be named after Lovlina and five coaches who helped in the development of Lovlina as a world class boxer would be provided Rs. 10 lakhs each for their contributions.

It is noteworthy that Renault India has also presented the new Kiger SUV to the Tokyo Olympics 2020 silver medalist Mirabai Chanu.
