GUWAHATI: A microphone disorder during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address at Jerenga Pathar in Sivasagar left the Assam government red faced.

And Modi is visiting again within a fortnight. The Assam government as well as the ruling BJP are taking no chance this time.

Not only are party leaders supervising the preparations for the prime minister’s visit on Monday, chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and senior cabinet colleague Himanta Biswa Sarma have personally inspected the preparations.

Inspecting the venue at Dhekiajuli in Sonitpur district, Sonowal today said the people of Assam are indebted to Modi “because of his sincere love towards the people”.

“Lakhs of people from across the state will come to express their gratitude towards our beloved leader here on Monday,” the chief minister told newsmen this afternoon. He was accompanied by ministerial colleagues Chandra Mohan Patowary, Ranjit Dutta, Naba Kumar Doley and others during the visit.

Modi is scheduled to address an election rally and virtually lay the foundation of two medical colleges at Charaideo and Biswanath from Dhekiajuli.
