Kokrajhar, April 2, 2019:

Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary, while addressing the media here on Tuesday, said that the agenda of the Bodo People's Front (BPF) is the development of the BTC.

"Our agenda is for the BTC people. Our country's political parties have no agenda regarding the BTC region. There were no roads, bridges, offices, nothing before the formation of the BPF. In 15 years of work, Bhutan is now linked via a hundred plus roads and bridges", he said.

Daimary also addressed the issue of building river dams in the region. "Rivers from Bhutan and Brahmaputra too pass through the BTC area. This can only be solved through co-operation with the central Government." He further added that a strong Lok Sabha MP is needed to represent the region.

The Rajya Sabha MP further condemned the sitting MP Naba 'Hira' Sarania'. "The sitting MP has done nothing. In fact, he has obstructed the process of development at every turn."

It is to be mentioned that Kokrajhar will head to the polls on April 23. The BPF will field Minister Pramila Rani Brahma, whereas the other strong candidate is expected to be the UPPL's ABSU backed candidate, Urkhao Gwra Brahma. Naba Sarania will be contesting the election as he attempts to recapture the Lok Sabha throne he won in 2014.
