Pakistan Rejects New Political Maps of India, Calls it ‘Incorrect’

New Delhi, November 3, 2019:

The government of Pakistan has rejected the latest political maps issued by India, showing the new Union Territories – Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

It has regarded the new maps, which shows Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) as part of the newly created Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, while Gilgit-Baltistan is shown as part of Ladakh.

The Pakistan Foreign Office in its statement has expressed its discontentment over India’s fresh maps showing the entire Kashmir as part of the Indian territory. It said that the political maps, displaying Jammu and Kashmir region and seeking to depict parts of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir within the territorial jurisdiction of India, are ‘incorrect, legally untenable, void and in complete violation’ of the relevant United Nations Security Council Resolutions.

The statement added that Pakistan government rejects India’s political maps. It went on to state that no step of India can change the ‘disputed’ status of Jammu and Kashmir.

Pakistan, in its official statement, expressed its solidarity with the people of Jammu& Kashmir. It said that it will continue its support to the legitimate struggle of the people of Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir to exercise their right to self-determination in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council Resolutions.

It may be mentioned here that after months of lockdown in Kashmir, following abrogation of Article 370, the government of India released fresh political maps showing the bifurcated Jammu & Kashmir.
