Paragliding Disaster in Himachal Claims Life of Sikkim Pilot

Gangtok, February 29, 2020:

A 27 years old pilot from Sikkim named Ten Tshering Lepcha died in a paragliding disaster at Bilaspur in Himachal Pradesh yesterday after falling in the Govind Sagar Lake while flying from Bandla in Bilaspur.

The Sikkimese paraglider, who hailed from Rumtek, fell into Gobind Sagar lake after taking off from Bandla hill on a paragliding expedition Friday. Himachal Police have meanwhile registered a case and sent the body for postmortem. The cause of death will be known only after the report comes in, officials informed us.

The SP of Bilaspur, Diwakar Sharma said that the rescue team already present in Govind Sagar lake took out the Sikkimese paraglider immediately from the water and rushed him to the hospital. However, doctors declared him 'dead on arrival'.
