Kokrajhar, February 10, 2020:

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday appealed all the insurgent groups in the region, including the anti-talks faction of the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) to lay down arms so that Assam can establish itself as a developed region. The CM also appealed ULFA's Commander-in-Chief, Paresh Baruah, to join peace parlays.

Speaking on the sidelines of the 18th Bodoland Day celebrations, the Chief Minister said that once the rebels lay down arms, everyone can walk hand-in-hand along the path of development, and Assam will be able to establish itself.

The CM said that just like the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) laid down their arms, the others too should follow suit. "We are inviting everyone for peace talks. In Assam, we have belief that just like all the 4 factions of the NDFB signed the pact and they left the path of violence and joined the way of peace. Similarly, others should also come and join. I appeal ULFA (I), and Paresh Baruah, to join us."
