KOHIMA: The People's Democratic Alliance (PDA) government hosted a thanksgiving programme on Tuesday to mark the end of three years of government at the State Banquet Hall, chief minister's residential complex here.

Chief minister Rio said the thanksgiving service is important because it coincides with the end of the PDA government's three-year term.

He added, although progress has been made and the government has been embroiled in a year-long fight against the global pandemic. He claimed that the final two years of the government's term are vital in fulfilling the commitments made in the manifestos and the popular minimum programme.

Rio also congratulated H. Chuba Chang on his unopposed election to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly for a fifth time representing the Noksen assembly constituency in Tuensang district. He thanked the intending candidates in particular for adhering to the party's policy of endorsing the official candidate who was given a ticket.

He added that initiatives like the development of the Staff Selection Board, the elimination of the VIP culture, enhanced e-governance and the use of technology to combat governance challenges are still at the forefront of the government's initiatives.

The CM also encouraged ministers and elected members of the party's rank and file to rededicate themselves to serving the people, and told all that concrete steps must be made to ensure that the government's policies and initiatives meet the targeted sections in letter and spirit.

Rio said that the public has high expectations of the government, and that it is our duty to bring governance to the doorsteps of every household, and that everyone must make sincere efforts to achieve this goal.
