Assam CM terms Pegasus a “conspiracy” to defame PM Narendra Modi

GUWAHATI: Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday said that the Pegasus spyware was a well-designed international conspiracy to defame Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Indian Parliamentary system, and an attempt to create “dissatisfaction” among the people.

He said whenever India was going to achieve some milestone, international conspiracy both from inside and outside starts.

Himanta went on to say that as India has effectively controlled the second wave of COVID-19 and vaccinated 15 crore people against COVID-19 every month, the “Pegasus” controversy has been started bring down the efforts of the government.

He also claimed that Amnesty International is also involved in this conspiracy.

“Amnesty International encourages left-wing terrorism in India and they are working overnight to defame India. I will request the Government of India to immediately ban the activities of Amnesty International within India,” Sarma said.

Condemning the “malicious design”, he insisted that the people “involved in the process” should be examined and brought to law.

“People involved in this process should be examined; their credibility should be examined, and should be brought under the law for making such claims without any proper evidence and naming many in this”, said Sarma.
