Pema Khandu Sworn in as Arunachal CM for Second Time

Guwahati, May 29, 2019:

Pema Khandu was sworn-in as the Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh for a second term on Wednesday. Along with Pema Khandu, 11 other ministers of the cabinet were also sworn in.

Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mien, was also sworn in today at the ceremony held at the Dorjee Khandu Convention centre at capital Itanagar. Honchun Ngandam, Wangki Lowang, Alo Libang, Kamlung Mossang, Bamang Felix, Tumke Bagra, Mama Natung, Nakap Nalo, Tage Taki and Taba Tedir were sworn in as Ministers.

Governor Dr. BD Mishra administered the oath of office and secrecy to the council of ministers. Many dignitaries such as the Chief Ministers from Tripura, Nagaland, Assam, Manipur, and Meghalaya were present. NEDA Convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma and BJP Northeast in-charge Ram Madhav were also present.

Addressing media persons after the ceremony, Khandu thanked Narendra Modi and Amit Shah for the BJP's unprecedented victory in the state. Khandu said that the first priority for the new Govt will be Law and Order, followed by Health Sector, Education Sector, and solving the Unemployment problem in the state. He also promised to run a "clean" and "corrruption free" Government in the state.

The BJP led by Khandu won 41 seats in the 60-member Assembly, in the elections held simultaneously with the Lok Sabha elections on April 11 in the northeastern state bordering China and emerged as the single largest party.
