NALBARI: The people of Paradhara 'Char' village of Barkhetri in Nalbari district of Assam today said that the public health centre (PHC) in the village is running with no medical staff.

The villagers claimed that the PHC is a ploy to cheat them as it has no doctors, nurses, or equipment.

They stated that the PHC has 2-3 security guards and one of them is unwell and that they had only seen one security guard at the public health centre so far.

"We never saw any doctors coming to the public health centre, even though it has been reported that one doctor visits the PHC once a week," a local said, adding that they had no option but to visit Mukalmua public hospital to acquire a vaccination against COVID-19.

Furthermore, the villagers alleged looting in the constituency in the past five years during the rule of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Narayan Deka.

They said Congress MLA Diganta Barman has recently visited the public health centreto see the condition.

They urged the government to take action to help the villagers get better health care facilities.
