GUWAHATI: Assam Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika has urged the central government for more fund allocations for flood and erosion control in Assam.

Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat arrived in Assam and attended the 11th high-level committee meeting. Pijush Hazarika represented Assam Government at the same.

Along with delegations of other Northeastern states, Brahmaputra Board officials also attended the meeting.

"Under Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, in a joint effort of Public Works Department and Water Resources Department, approximately 1,000 km road to be constructed over river embankments," said Minister Pijush Hazarika.

Hazarika added,"We have received immense support from the central government till date but we will be in need of more aid from the government to work on serious issues like flood control and erosion control."

Hazarika also put light on the State government's schemes to work on such flood and erosion related issues in the next five months.
