PM Modi Meets CEOs of Top Companies to Discuss India’s Economy

New Delhi, January 9, 2020:

PM Narendra Modi has been meeting with entrepreneurs and business leaders of top companies to address the dismal economic scenario of the country.

He met with the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of companies like Tata, Adani, Reliance and many more corporates to discuss ways to revive the falling economy of India, according to reports.

India Inc bigwigs such as Mukesh Ambani, Anand Mahindra, L.M. Naik and Anil Agarwal among others were in one meeting with start-up leaders scheduled for another to be held. PM’s meetings have been so far held, reportedly, with twelve CEOs from the textile and apparel segment, thirteen CEOs from retail, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) companies, medium and small scale enterprises and renewable energy, twelve representatives from banking and finance sector and twelve office-bearers of South Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Surat, who discussed issues on both textiles and diamond sectors.

In these meetings, PM Modi was seeking feedback on the respective sectors from the top honchos of the country.  These meetings came after ASSOCHAM’s centenary meet on December 20, 2019. While addressing the meet, he had asked for ‘honest feedback’ from industry leaders on the economy.

It may be mentioned here that India’s economy has been at an all-time low. The country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth has been projected at a very low 5 percent for 2019-20 and other indicators have also directed towards economic slowdown.
