Turning down heavily on the Prime Minister, Garima called upon all the women of the state to participate in the protest that is scheduled on December 21 against the Citizenship Act.

She has invited all the women to assemble, wearing their respective traditional attires and send out a clear message to Narendra Modi about the diverse culture and unity of this part of the land.

Taking a jibe at the state government, Garima stated that the ‘Gamusa’ (গামোচা) that Narendra Modi carried around his neck and made out a turban is just “ভণ্ডামি” (Bhondami- typical drama) to show respect to the ‘Assamese’. She added that the ‘Gamusa’ PM Modi carried was a machine-weaved one imported from outside and not weaved by the Assamese women

She slammed the state government alleging that it lacks the knowledge of the real handloom of Assam and criticized over its promise to develop the state’s handloom industry.

Calling upon the "নাৰীশক্তি" (Nari Shakti- women power) to join the agitation against the Act, the Assamese fashion designer also said that PM Modi has got “ভীতিগ্ৰস্ত” (Bhitigrasto- scared).

It is to be mentioned here Narendra Modi while addressing a public rally in Dumka in Jharkhand, said that the people protesting outside the country can be identified from their clothes and are “Congressis”.
