MUMBAI: An illegal Bangladeshi immigrant who was working as President of BJP's North Mumbai Minority cell in the city was arrested recently by the Mumbai police.

 

The accused has been identified as Rubel Jonu Sheikh, (24-year-old) was staying in India with illegal documents. He also made an Aadhaar Card and a Pan Card based on fake documents. He is now in judicial custody.

 

Congress leader Sachin Sawant, hitting out at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the arrest said “Is this BJP's 'Sangh Jihad'?”

He said some leaders of the BJP are also found to smuggle Gaumata while some are proven to be agents of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Adding, now Rubel Sheikh, the president of the BJP minority cell, has turned out to be Bangladeshi, Sawant  said “Is there a provision for BJP provided in the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA)?”

 

Rubel Sheikh hails from Bowalia Village in Jasur district of Bangladesh, who entered India in the year 2011 with no documents, said police officials.

 

During the search of the Sheikh’s house, police found many documents of West Bengal such are- a certificate of Malapota gram Panchayat, birth certificate Hansakhali, school certificate of Nadia district, etc.
