AGARTALA: After Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, Tripura royal Pradyot Manikya has become the second noted figure from the Northeast Indian region to test positive for the novel coronavirus.

Manikya, a former President of the Congress party from Tripura, informed via social media that he has gone in for complete isolation after developing a high-grade fever, loss of smell, and body ache -- 3 of the most common symptoms associated with the virus infection.

Doctors have asked the royal to take "extra precaution" as he has an underlying heart condition, he said.
