“In 2026, delimitation will take place, and here our Borok community, which once was 90 per cent, then reduced to 80 per cent, 70 per cent, 50 per cent and now stands at 30 per cent, after five to 10 years, we will be extinct,” says Manikya in the video.
Manikya gets emotional as he proceeded further in his speech. “Today Bubagra is not fighting for himself but for you. If I had to fight for myself then I’d have been sitting in New Delhi being MP or minister.”
Manikya’s this heart touching speech has been applauded all across the nation. Even newly floated political group Assam Jatiya Parishad leaders hailed his victory as a new dawn for the regional forces in northeast India.
In the TTAADC election, which was declared yesterday, Pradyot Manikya-led Tipraha Indigenous Peoples Regional Alliance (TIPRA) swept 18 seats out of 28 seats. He formed TIPRA in 2019 after parting ways with Congress.
