PRCI-YCC Northeast conducts webinar on LGBTQIA+ on Pride Month

GUWAHATI: In view of the ongoing Pride Month celebration, the Young Communicators Club Northeast chapter (YCC), a student wing of Public Relations Council of India (PRCI) has conducted a webinar to discuss several concerning issues such as understanding gender, sex and sexuality and understanding the problems and needs of LGBTQIA+ in the country and especially in Northeast India.

Arpana Choudhury, a "Forbes 30 under 30" recognized human rights activist from Tezpur, has discussed the basics of gender, sex and sexuality and breaking the myths around the same. She highlighted the issues that the LGBTQIA+ community faces in India and how people's perceptions can be changed as well.

Director YCC Northeast and host of the event Subhankar Banerjee on the occasion said, “We are happy to hold a webinar on such a sensitive topic, awareness is the basic requirements to understand the LGBTQIA+ community and I am sure this webinar conducted by YCC Northeast has given us a proper understanding of the topic.”

Over 80-85 students from different locations of India took part in the event, the event also had the top national office bearer of PRCI and YCC. National Chairperson PRCI-YCC Chinnmaye Praveen was the special guest and National Vice Chairman Avinash Gawai was the guest of honor on the occasion.
