Pre-matric scholarship case: One more arrested in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: One person has been apprehended by a team of CID along with the local police in connection with the pre-matric scholarship case in Guwahati, Assam.

The accused has been identified as Nozirul Islam (24), a resident of Tupamari village under Nagarbera police station.

Islam was involved in the misappropriation of scholarships amount meant for students belonging to the minority community, police said.

After arresting Islam yesterday, the team of CID forwarded him to the court today.

Later, the court has granted police remand for two days.

With Islam’s arrest, the total number of arrests, in this case, rose to 36.
