'Prison Break' in Karbi Anglong as Two Inmates Flee from Hamren District Jail

Hamren, 28 July, 2019:

In a incident straight out of an episode of popular American show 'Prison Break', two prisoners escaped from the Hamren district jail in Karbi Anglong on July 27.

Authorities have said that the two inmates possibly escaped at around 9 am, during the time allotted to them to take baths.

The defectors have been identified as Sarsing Rongpi (24), a resident of Dokmoka in Karbi Anglong, and Atul Deori (22), a residet of Raha in Nagaon.

Immediate megisterial enquiry has been set to catch the jail-breakers. The Hamren police have also announced a reward if civilians are able to catch the absconding duo and hand them over the the authorities. Inquiry has revealed that the two 'jail breakers' climbed over the prison boundary using a piece of cloth for leverage.
