NEW DELHI: Early in the morning today, reports started circulating that Haryana wrestler Priya Malik has bagged India's very first medal in the ongoing Tokyo Olympics.

So, to what extent is it true?

The fact is, Malik isn't a part of the Indian Olympics contingent and she grabbed a gold in the 73 kg category of the World Cadet Wrestling Championship in Budapest, Hungary.

This comes a day after Mirabai Chanu from Manipur won silver yesterday at the Tokyo Olympics 2020; India's very first at the games. It remains India's only medal at the Olympics so far.

Meanwhile, congratulations are pouring in for the young wrestling star, with a special emphasis being placed on "girl power" in view of Malik's and Chanu's splendid showings on consecutive days.

MyGov India tweeted: ""Another glory for the country!  Congratulations to Wrestler
