KOKRAJHAR: The United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) has "vehemently criticized" false allegations against President Promod Boro by former party member Prithiviraj Narayan Dev Mech for the latter's claims that Boro wants the removal of 60% of illegal encroachers including Indian Citizens under the tribal belt and block.

Claiming that "this is a totally baseless allegation to deceive the electorate, the UPPL added that Mech is being used by other parties "for their own political benefits."

Rather, he is the main Petitioner in the PIL case No. 22/2019 for removal of illegal encroachers in BTC under Tribal Belt and Block Sri Prithiviraj Narayan Dev Mech has also filed the said case as a Director of North East Heritage Foundation.

"This is a person who cannot be trusted at all possibilities. He was released from UPPL for various in disciplinary actions. He has no social value nor contributed to any issues for the people around him. He is the person who always likes standing before the media groups. He expects name and fame within a short period but has no idea about development or any public welfare," the UPPL further added in its statement.

Slamming Mech, the UPPL added that there are credible reports of criminal cases against this person. He is also the accused in GR Case No 1191/2017, Kokrajhar filed by a victim girl, the party alleged.

The UPPL is with the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution which is very specific and clear that "nothing shall extinguish or modify the existing rights and privileges of any citizens in respect of his land at the commencement of this act and disallow any citizens from acquiring land either by way of Inheritance, allotment, settlement or by other way of transfer if such citizen is otherwise eligible for acquisition of land within BTAD," the party further stated.

So, where is the question of removal of illegal encroachers or citizens as allege. The UPPL is a law abiding party, it cannot go against any one or anybody. We are for peace and development. Our manifestoes are clear for peace. Our ideologies are crystal clear. We do not want any conflict with any community.

Claiming that Mech is trying to "deceive the common people", the party added that he has filed PIL before the Hon'ble Gauhati High Court for removal of encroachers in belt and block and not Promod Boro as charged.

"We are going to file a Criminal case against Sri Prithiviraj Narayan Dev Mech for inciting the public for communal tension and false charge," the UPPL said.
