New Delhi, August 25, 2019:

PV Sindhu has become the first Indian to clinch Gold at the World Badminton Championship held at Basel, Switzerland.

Beating her opponent Nozomi Okuhara of Japan for 21-7 in the Women’s Singles Final, PV Sindhu created history and carved India’s mark at the international level.

Expressing her joy at the historic win, the badminton queen thanked the crowd for supporting her. She also mentioned that the moment was extremely important for her as it came after losing to Okuhara for the past two years.

Sindhu dedicated her win to her mother as the day coincides with her mother’s birthday. She also thanked her coaches Gopichand and Kim Ji Hyun and all her staff members for supporting her.

Now, the Indian shuttler has five medals to her credit. It is to be mentioned here that Sindhu had lost in the past two years to Okuhara and Carolina Marina. After three years of losing, the shuttler has finally bagged Gold in the World Badminton Championship.
