The use of oxygen is critical in the management of many medical conditions associated with the COVID infection.

It is pertinent to mention that the state governments of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra approached the Ministry of Railways to see whether Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) tankers could be transported by railways.

Railways investigated the economic viability of LMO transportation right away.

LMO must be transported via Roll On Roll Off (RO RO) operation, with road tankers installed on flat wagons.

Trials were performed at different sites to ensure that Transportation criteria were checked.

According to sources, Maharashtra Transport Minister Anil Parab was present when the train departed for the Andhra Pradesh port area.

The Railways yesterday revealed that it would run the 'Oxygen Express' over the next few days to deliver liquid medical oxygen and oxygen cylinders around the country.

According to reports, empty tankers will be filled with liquid medical oxygen from Visakhapatnam, Jamshedpur, Rourkela, and Bokaro for distribution across the region.

The need for medical oxygen in the world has skyrocketed as the number of coronavirus cases in the country has skyrocketed.
