Rare pangolin rescued in Assam's Chirang; 4 smugglers nabbed

KAJALGAON: Jawans of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) today rescued an endangered pangolin in Chirang district of Assam. 4 persons accused of smuggling the rare animal have been apprehended by the local authorities.

An operation was launched after the SSB jawans were alerted to the presence of wild animal smugglers in the Kuklung area under Manas National Park of Chirang district under Bijni Police Station.

After conducting an investigation, forest officials as well as SSB jawans found out that the smuggled animals were being brought to Kajalgaon. The joint forces were able to rescue a Pangolin from 4 suspected smugglers, who have been apprehended. A Tata Tiago and mobile handsets were seized from the suspected smugglers.
