Guwahati, February 22, 2020:

Assam Congress MP Abdul Khaleque today said that the regional parties, which form alliance with the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), are completely ruined.

While addressing a press conference in Guwahati, Khaleque viewed that alliance with the BJP is like “The End” of a party since the ones who join BJP, forming alliance, are gradually ruined.

Khaleque cited the Janata Dal (United) or JD(U) as an example. He also stated that in 2021 elections, the Congress will emerge as the winner.

Talking about the regional party, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), he said, “If AGP contests now, they will not even win two seats. They have no base at all.”

Khaleque also alleged that the BJP wanted to favor former ABSU president Pramod Boro now. Earlier, Hargrama Mohilary was earlier close to the BJP, he said.

While speaking on a number of issues, the Congress MP urged Finance & Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to reassess the decision of shutting Sanskrit and Madrassa institutions in the state.

He viewed that instead of completely shutting the institutions, the government should build more institutes. “The BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) is conspiring to destroy the Madrassas. I urge Himanta Biswa Samra to review this decision,” said Khaleque.

He added that at a time when the central government has set up three new Sanskrit institutes, Assam has decided to shut the existing ones. This, according to Khaleque, is a different plan altogether.

The Bodo Peace Pact, according to him, will not bring peace to Bodoland. “Earlier also, there have been Accords, but I don’t think this will bring peace back,” he observed.

Pointing out at the drawbacks of the BJP, he also brought forth the issues of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST). He said that the incumbent government has not set up the Eklavya Model Residential Schools. The government has also not accepted the proposal to start work on bank erosion of Beki and Manas rivers.

Khaleque, during his press conference, presented what Assam has received under the BJP regime since its election.
