NEW DELHI: Union minister of state for youth affairs & sports Kiren Rijiju has lauded the Indian para shuttlers who have bagged 17 medals in the 3rd Sheikh Hamdam bin Rashid Al Maktoum Dubai Para-Badminton International 2021, held at the Shabab Al Ahli Club.

"A brilliant show by our Para Shuttlers at the Dubai Para-Badminton International 2021. India wins a total of 21 medals with 11 shuttlers in the Finals. India plays India in two final events too!!

@KirenRijiju congratulates all and wishes athletes the best for the final event," the tweet from Rijiju's office read.

In the tournament, the foremost para shuttlers Pramod Bhagat, Manoj Sarkar, Sukant Kadam, and Nitesh Kumar, Krishna Nagar, Manasi Joshi and Parul Parmar proceeded to the podium in their respective categories.

Besides, all the shuttlers ensured two medals each in their respective categories, apart from Bhagat.

After making it to the singles, doubles, and mixed doubles semifinals in their respective categories, leading para shuttlers Bhagat, Palak Kohli and Prem Kumar Ale bagged three medals each.
