Rupsi Airport in Kokrajhar to Begin Operating within 1-2 Months: Airports Authority of India

Kokrajhar, February 13, 2020:

Planes will soon be taking off from the Rupsi Airport in Kokrajhar as some mere formalities are left until the new airport is inaugurated, if the Airports Authority of India (AAI) is to be believed.

The Airports Authority of India has also pledged a sum of Rs 9.65 crores towards building a trauma centre in the RNB Hospital in Kokrajhar as a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Today, the AAI donated two ambulances to the RNB Hospitals, as part of its CSR initiative. The program was attended by Sanjeev Jindal, Regional Executive Director of the AAI, Robinson Mushahary, the Principal Secretary of the BTC, among several other dignitaries.

Jindal, talking to the media, said, "We are a responsible organization. Our job is the construction, operation, and maintenance of airports. Moreover, under our CSR initiative, we are also working on primary health and primary education. In the same vein, in Bodoland's Kokrajar, we have seen great enthusiasm among the people, so it give us immense happiness to donate two ambulances here. One is laced with all equipments to treat emergencies."

Jindal also said that in the Northeast, air connectivity is not a luxury, but a necessity, as the roads connectivity is not that good and climate is also very unpredictable. "Thus, in the Northeast, air connectivity is very very important."
