SHILLONG: Achik Holistic Awakening Movement (AHAM), a Meghalaya-based body, has appealed for a fresh autopsy on the body of Nagaland's Samuel Sangma who, according to Delhi Police, had died by suicide.

Writing to Kiren Rijiju, who was elevated to the rank of Union Minister for Law and Justice, the AHAM termed the postmortem report of the Delhi police as "false" and asked for a CBI probe into Samuel's death. Samuel and his aunt, Rose Sangma, died under different circumstances in Gurugram.

Rose allegedly died while undergoing treatment in a hospital, while Samuel was found hanging in an apparent case of suicide. He had earlier alleged that Rose had died of 'medical negligence' in a Facebook video.

According to reports, when Samuel's body was brought to his home State Nagaland, signs of physical trauma including broken teeth and neck injuries were found.

"The untimely death of Samuel Sangma is highly suspicious in nature. One does not need to be a medical doctor or forensic expert and just one glance into the victim's body speaks volumes. There were injury marks all over the body, with broken teeth and swollen lips. The viral video where he was repeatedly assaulted just before his death has raised many questions," AHAM wrote in its letter to the Union Minister

"Those from the mainland look at us as lower class, hence this case is not being taken up in a proper way and the genuine investigation has not been done so far," the AHAM further alleged.

"We are dissatisfied with the postmortem report and false finding and demand that a CBI inquiry be set up and re-autopsy be done to prove the unsolved mystery," it added.
