Gangtok: Indian International footballer Sanju Pradhan from Sikkim has been honoured with Apollo Tyres “Go the Distance Heroes Award” on Tuesday.
“Go The Distance Heroes campaign”, Apollo Tyres aims to profile and gratify personalities who are positively impacting the Indian sporting ecosystem by creating access to sport for the community.
Sanju Pradhan has been chosen this year because of the work he has done for “Sanju Football Academy”, an Academy launched by him with the support of some like-minded people from Sombaria, his home village.
This centre has been imparting quality football training to the boys from remote parts of West Sikkim, training them to compete in major tournaments.
It is important to note that the boys from the Academy currently play in various tournaments in Sikkim and Darjeeling.
They have also attended exposure camps in Himachal Pradesh and Odisha in the past.
