The Supreme Court on Tuesday expressed its displeasure before National Register of Citizens (NRC) state coordinator Prateek Hajela and Registrar General of India Sailesh as they spoke about modalities of final draft NRC with media.
The court asked the duo to carry on with NRC finalisation work and not talk to media without its permission. The court said Hajela and Sailesh were not mandated to speak about issues before the media which it would finalise.
Stating that their job was to comply with orders and not talk to media over such issues, the court said both of them could be held guilty of contempt.
