Itanagar, October 3, 2019:

The mother-son duo of Chudarathna and D Krishna Kumar arrived here in the state capital on Tuesday after travelling across the country in their 20-year-old scooter — a classic Bajaj Chetak.

Beginning their ‘matru seva sankalp yatra’ from Mysore in Karnataka on 16 January, 2018, the duo has travelled to over 20 states and covered a distance of 47,370 kms in the past one year and eight months.

The duo has also travelled to neighbouring countries of Nepal, Bhutan and Myanmar on their trusted scooter.

In Arunachal Pradesh, the duo has travelled to Parshuram Kund in Lohit district, Bomdila in West Kameng district and Tawang district.

After leaving his cushy job, D. Krishan Kumar is taking his 70-year-old mother Churarta Devi on a tour of every single pilgrimage spot in the country on an old and rusty Bajaj Chetak scooter that was gifted by his late father.

The momma’s boy started his journey on January 16, 2018, on the Bajaj Chetak scooter after his father’s demise.

D. Krishna Kumar’s mother, while talking to media persons, said: “I am very happy and I am proud of my son. I consider myself lucky to have a son like him. Children of the present day leave their parents, but my son is taking me to every single temple in every corner of the country. How lucky I am!”
