GUWAHATI: Right wing activist Satya Ranjan Bora today advised Hojai MLA Shiladitya Dev not to trust in the state BJP leadership and campaign for the party ahead of the Assam assembly elections in March-April.

The Hindutva activist said the BJP would use him to woo Bengali voters ahead of the polls and betray him later on.

“The party is led by some people who are making everyone a fool. So I would like to advise Shiladitya Dev not to trust in the leadership. It is apparent that the party will need his help to woo Bengali voters in Hojai, Lumding, Nagaon, Barak Valley and even at Sarbhog. That’s why, Pijush Hazarika landed up at his home the very next day he put in papers and was followed by Himanta Biswa Sarma and Dilip Saikia.

“They might have made a lot of promises to the leader. But, I am pretty sure they will use him and dump him later on. Since he had tendered his resignation, they will accept it after the elections and Shiladitya Dev will finally be left in the lurch,” Bora said.

Dev had announced himself as an independent candidate after his Hojai seat was allotted to Ramkrishna Ghosh only to be dissuaded by Hazarika, Sarma and Saikia.

The Sanghi was apparently targeting Sarma.

Dev has always been vocal about the citizenship of the Bengali Hindu migrants from Bangladesh. He claims that he sometimes feels being targeted by the party leadership because of his Hindutva ideologies and his advocacy for the Bengali Hindu migrants.
