GANGTOK: The India 75 BRO Motorcycle Expedition that was flagged off by the Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh on October 14, 2021 arrived at Gangtok on November 5 2021 after having completed two out of the planned seven legs.

The challenging expedition has been undertaken by the BRO as part of the series of events being undertaken to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of India's Independence and will entail an arduous and challenging journey covering a distance of 20,000 Kms undertaken by 75 participants over 75 days.

The Expedition has been undertaken to showcase and highlight the achievements made by the Nation towards achieving self-reliance through the Atma Nirbhar Bharat Mission.

The BRO Warriors will spread this message of self-reliance and India’s growth story through several public interaction programmes/ activities including Medical Camps, Swachh Bharat Initiatives, Road Safety Campaigns as well as visits to Old Age Homes/ Orphanages. 2.

The Third Leg of the expedition spanning the picturesque state of Sikkim to the challenging and inspiring land of Arunachal Pradesh was flagged off the Hon’ble Forest Minister of Sikkim Shri Karma Loday Bhutia from Gangtok on 06 Nov 2021 in the presence of Brigadier SP Singh, Chief Engineer Project Swastik.

The event was organised by Project Swastik at its headquarter located at Burtuk (East Sikkim). 3. The Hon’ble Minister interacted with the team members and the organisers of the event and appreciated BRO for having organised this event as part of the Azaadi ka Amrut Mahotsav and having added another feather to their cap in their service to the Nation and Sikkim.

He lauded the efforts of the BRO Karmyogis for remaining committed in their efforts at Nation Building not just through their outstanding contribution to infrastructure development but also through spreading the India Growth Story message to all corners of the country.

He expressed confidence that the State Govt and BRO will continue to work together with synergy and coordination in achieving even greater glory and success. 4.

Riding on the spirit of adventure which is second nature to the BRO Warriors, the expedition aims to achieve multiple objectives of promoting unity and national integration, nation building and road safety awareness among the masses.

A number of outreach programmes were organised at MG Marg and Sikkim Manipal University at Sikkim including a Medical Camp at Burtuk at the commencement of the third leg.

Besides focussing at building bonds and spreading the message of road safety amongst the local population through such engagements, team members also interacted with the youth at the Sikkim Manipal University Campus and children at various schools, sharing with them ideas and experiences and motivating them to join BRO.
