Sikkim Minister K N Lepcha, suffering from Septicemia, air-lifted to hospital in Delhi

GANGTOK: Sikkim's Education minister K N Lepcha (67) has been airlifted by air ambulance to a private hospital in New Delhi for treatment amid a deterioration in his health.

Sources have informed that Mr. K N Lepcha, who is also the MLA from Gangtok Constituency, is suffering from a blood infection called "septicemia." The Minister was earlier flown to Bagdogra by helicopter.

It is pertinent to mention here that Septicemia is a serious bloodstream infection. It's also known as blood poisoning.

Septicemia occurs when a bacterial infection elsewhere in the body, such as the lungs or skin, enters the bloodstream. This is dangerous because the bacteria and their toxins can be carried through the bloodstream to your entire body.
