SIKKIM: PAWAN CHAMLING INAUGURATES CIVIL JUDGE CUM JUDICIAL MAGISTRATE’S COURT

Chief Minister Pawan Chamling inaugurated the Civil Judge cum Judicial Magistrate’s court at Jorenthang sub-division, on 26^th May. Chief Justice Sikkim High Court, Satish Kumar Agnihotri and Judge Bhaskar Pradhan were also present.

Addressing the gathering Pawan Chamling declared that “Jorethang is the first sub division under South District to have a court building for judiciary dealings which will indeed be a great asset for the people of Jorenthang as well as the neighbouring areas”

He also stated that sub-Division Court will provide justice to over approximately 9,000 people of this area with 52 % male and 48 % female as per census of 2011.

More importantly, this Court is 300 meters above the sea level, sharing boundary with Darjeeling district of the state of West Bengal. Our people in this area will have full confidence and faith to live under the protection of rule of law. We can expect speedy hearing and quick disposal of all civil and criminal cases that may be filed from time to time in and around this area.

It is important to emphasize that presence of a Court House, however, does not absolutely guarantee the protection of the innocent as there are technical procedure under which justice is sometime denied or delayed. I am sure that in the formative years of the judicial career, great care has to be executed. Of course, under the guidance of the higher judicial system, review and appeals are done so that the poor do not miss out due to their economic condition, he added.

He also said to establish two more sub-divisional courts- one each at Pakyong and Ravangla as per suggestion of the Hon’ble, Chief Justice
