Sikkim records its first COVID-19 fatality

Sikkim recorded its first COVID-19 death on Friday. A health worker who was working as an assistant nursing staff (ANS) at the STNM Hospital died due to the virus.

Health officials informed that the 49-year-old nurse from Daragaon, Tadong was admitted in the hospital almost two weeks ago. She was on ventilator.

On Thursday, two out of five staff of Canara Bank Tadong Branch located inside CRH Tadong complex tested positive for COVID-19. The Bank Branch was contained in the evening.

A 29 year old resident of By pass and a 32 year old man residing at Lingdum are the two staff who tested positive.

As per SOP the bank will be contained for 48 hours and primary contacts have to undergo home quarantine for 11 days. In this case all remaining staff are primary contacts so they will have to go for 11 days quarantine.
