Sikkim records massive single-day spike in COVID-19 cases, 14 more patients detected

With fourteen more people have been tested positive for the COVID-19 in Sikkim on June 12th, 2020, the state has registered a massive single-day spike. With this total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has gone up to 27 in the state.

Of the 14 positive COVID-19 cases, nine are from Bahai School Quarantine Ranipool, three from Epica Garden, and two from PNG School, informed Director General cum Health Secretary Dr. Pempa T Bhutia.

Saying that the patients have a travel history, Bhutia said all the 14 positive cases have been shifted to STNM Hospital and the three facility quarantine centres have been declared as containment zone.

Of the 14 new cases, 12 are the Mumbai returnees and two are West Bengal returnees. The youngest patient is 2 years 3 months, Bhutia said.

Sikkim and Northeast India

Assam has recorded the highest positive cases followed by Tripura in the Northeast.

India COVID-19 cases

India has crossed 2 lakh-mark in terms of corona positives on June 3rd. As on June 11th, the country currently has 298K confirmed COVID-19 cases, 141842 active cases with 147194 cured and discharged. The total number of deaths is 8498.

Among the states, Maharashtra is the first state to cross 3 thousand deaths. It has recorded 94041 corona cases with 44517 cured, 3438 deaths, and 46086 active cases. The western state is followed by Delhi and Tamil Nadu. Delhi has corona 32810 cases with 12245 cured, 984 deaths, and 19581 active cases. Tamil Nadu has 36841 positive cases with 19333 cured, 3262 deaths, 17182 active cases. Gujarat with 21521 COVID-19 cases, so far, has 14735 have been cured, 1347 deaths, and 5439 active cases.
