Sikkim set to reopen schools, colleges from June 15

Although the nation is fighting with the COVID19 pandemic, Sikkim has decided to reopen schools, colleges, and universities from June 15. The state has no positive case so far. The announcement was made by state Education Minister K N Lepcha on Friday in a presser. "We sat together with Chief Minister along with officials from the education department and after discussion, we have decided to reopen the schools, colleges, and universities", informed the minister.

However, there will be no classes for Kindergarten to eight to maintain social distancing. "Masks will be compulsory for all the students and we will follow standard operating protocol which will be issued by Ministry of Human Resources", said the Minister. There will be no morning assemblies in the schools.

"We tried to reach out to the students through various way through our Eductech app, through TVs, radios and we even distributed laptops in each block administrative centre with loaded lectures but we fail to deliver cent percent so looking at the loss of classes we have decided to re-open the school, colleges and universities reasoned minister for educational reopening", said Minister K N Lepcha

The Sikkim Minister also informed that the govt will also be arranging facilities for the students who come from outside as they have to go through quarantine centres.

Minister also shared in border areas there are students from West Bengal side also so they daily comes for classes but now parents of students from West Bengal have to arrange their accommodations.

Schools in Sikkim to reopen from June 15.
No school for students of KG-Class 8 for now.
There will be no morning assembly.
Social distancing norms will be followed.
No holiday on Saturdays.
Final exams in February 2021.
