Guwahati (Assam), September 2, 2018:

Sikkim will be on India’s commercial flight map when the SpiceJet operates a flight from the state’s only commercial airport Pakyong on October 4.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has given clearance to SpiceJet to start its services under the government’s regional connectivity scheme, UDAN.

The daily flights will begin from Kolkata to Pakyong from October 4 while flights from Pakyong to Guwahati will begin from October 16. The fare will be Rs.2,600 per person from Kolkata to Pakyong. Booking opened on Friday.

Airports Authority of India (AAI), Pakyong, director R Manjunatha said the date for the airport’s inauguration had not been fixed yet but all preparations for the operations were on track.
