Sikkim: Yuksom Withdraws Ban on Entry of Tourists

Yuksom in West Sikkim has decided to withdraw its ban on entry of tourists after a consultation meeting held yesterday.

The meeting was chaired by Yuksom BDO, Samber Man Limboo and attended by Gram Panchayats, Kanchenjunga National Park officials,

tourism stakeholders, SKM District Coordinator (West), Nandu Gurung, SKM Tourism Wing Secretary, Phumphi Bhutia, Private Secretary to Dy.

Speaker, Kesher Khatiwada and SKM Tourism Coordinator, Suk Rani Limboo.

SKM Tourism Wing Secretary, Phumbhi Bhutia said that the decision to withdraw the ban on entry of tourists to Yuksam was taken after thorough

consultations with the local community and tourism stakeholders of Yuksom and adjoining areas.

Meanwhile, a meeting was called by DC West, wherein he directed other Gram Panchayats that have banned entry of tourists to lift their restrictions.

Some of the other areas in West Sikkim which have banned entry of tourists are Ribdi-Bhareng

GPU under Daramdin constituency, Thingling Khechoperi GPU and Bermiok Berthang GPU.

Also Uttarey meanwhile had lifted its ban on tourists on 12 Oct.
