Sivasagar DC urges pharmacists against selling medicines without Covid test report

The Deputy Commissioner of Sivasagar Lakhinandan Gogoi chaired a meeting held in connection with COVID-19 on 10th October.

With the private medical practitioners and Government and private Pharmacists of the district at Sukafa Conference Hall of the office of the Deputy Commissioner.

The DC, urges private medical practitioners and pharmacists against prescribing or selling medicines related to COVID-19 symptoms without test reports in the meeting.

He also stressed upon generating awareness on the symptoms of COVID-19 and its consequences to all those customers asking for such types of medicines.

He appealed all to cooperate with the health team for testing in view of upcoming Durga Puja festival and asked all the Puja Committees to go for COVID-19 testing

of all the committee members, volunteers, priests and other members as well as the people of surrounding areas including rural, urban and tea gardens.

He emphasized on detection of all positive cases at the earliest so that the disease can be contained early.

The Joint Director of Health Services Dr. S. M. Sarma explained the objective of the meeting.

He requested all to support the mass COVID-19 testing campaign scheduled on October 12 to 14, 2020 for which an elaborate work plan has been prepared so that apart from the Puja Committees, all shop owners and their workers,all employees of commercial vehicles, slum areas, tea garden workers and people residing in containment zones can be tested.

He also appealed to all to maintain 6 feet distance in all Puja mandaps, use hand sanitizer, wear masks and frequently hand wash with soaps to prevent transmission of COVID-19.

Attending the meeting District T. B. Officer Dr. Udayaditya Rajkonwar appealed to all Puja Committees to

display hoardings and banners on COVID-19 preventive measures as well as awareness against tobacco consumption.
