Six member central delegation to visit Assam to assess flood situation

A delegation comprising six-member will visit Assam on August 26 to assess the flood situation in the state. The delegation will visit all the affected districts and take stock of the situation.

The Assam government had sent a interim flood damage report to the central government and sought a relief package of Rs. 2300 crore to compensate the flood damages caused by the catastrophe. The floods had caused huge destruction in the state this year.

It needs mentioned that Over 56.9 lakh people have been affected in 30 districts of Assam due to floods in the state whereas 113 people have lost their lives due to the floods.

A total of 626 relief camps have been set up for the flood victims in the state, in which 1,56,874 victims are taking shelter. While the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been deployed at eight locations of Assam, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) is positioned at 40 different locations in the state. The state has been suffering from flood situations for the past several weeks.
