Itanagar, June 12, 2019:

Welcoming the state government’s decision to refer the assassination case of her husband Tirong Aboh to the National Investigation Agency, Chakat Aboh, the widow of the slain MLA has said that her only plea is that the culprits should not be spared at any cost. She has stated that her fight is to get justice, and expressed confidence that it will be delivered as the country’s top investigating agency, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) is investigating the incident.

Overwhelmed by the support extended by the Pema Khandu-led state government in addressing the issues and appeals made by the bereaved families of all those who were killed in the ghastly 21 May attack in Tirap district, Chakat Aboh said the state government has fulfilled the appeals made by the victims’ families for investigation of the case by the NIA, and Ex Gratia payment of Rs 20 lakhs along with government jobs (Group C) for the next of kin of all the victims.

Expressing gratitude to Chief Minister Pema Khandu and the public for standing by their side, Chakat appealed to the people not to "politicize" the matter in the days to come.

It may be mentioned that NPP MLA from Khonsa West Assembly constituency, Tirong Aboh was killed in an attack on Tuesday morning while he was returning with his family to Khonsa from Dibrugarh district in Assam. Tirong Aboh was moving in a convoy with four vehicles when they were stopped by armed men and were fired upon.

It is being suspected that the ambush was carried out by NSCN-IM militants camped out in the frontier state Arunachal Pradesh. At least 11 people, including Aboh's son, were killed in the ambush. After gunning down the MLA and his companions, the militants also set ablaze the MLA’s car.
