Slain NPP MLA Tirong Aboh's Wife Chakat Sworn in as Khonsa West MLA

Itanagar, October 29, 2019:

Arunachal Pradesh Speaker Pasang Dorjee Sana on Monday administered oath to Chakat Aboh, the newly-elected MLA of Khonsa West Constituency in Arunachal Pradesh. The swearing in took place at the D.K. Auditorium at Assembly Secretariat today.

Congratulating the newly-elected MLA through Twitter, Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu, wrote, "My best wishes to Smt Chakat Aboh on taking oath as MLA from 56-Khonsa. May God giver her all strength to be able to serve her people with full dedication."

Chakat, who is the widow of slain National People's Party (NPP) MLA, has been in the public eye ever since she announced her candidature, and received the backing of all the major political players in the frontier state.

Earlier, Chakat Aboh won the by-election from the Khonsa West Constituency by a hefty margin of 1,887 votes.

Tirong Aboh, who was gunned down by suspected NSCN militants, along with others, was the MLA of Khonsa West where the by-election was held on October 21. It is to be mentioned here Late Tirong Aboh had held a number of important positions in Arunachal’s political scenario.

Bypolls were held in one seat each in Arunachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Puducherry, Meghalaya and Telangana, among a total of 51 assembly seats.
