Congress Key meet: Sonia Gandhi says "I am a full-time and hands-on Congress president'

NEW DELHI: While reacting to comments by G-23 leaders, Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi on Saturday reportedly said, “I am, if you will allow me to say so, a full-time and hands on Congress President".

The Congress Chief made the statement at the key meeting of the party while calling for unity.

Gandhi said that every party member wishes for revival of Congress. However, unity this requires unity and keeping party's interests paramount," Sonia Gandhi said.

Commenting on G-23"I have always appreciated frankness. There is no need to speak to me through the media. So let us all have a free and honest discussion."

The ‘G-23’ had been demanding to convene the CWC with Kapil Sibal last month and wondered who in the party was taking decisions in the absence of a full-time president.

The Congress Chief has also informed that the party had finalized a roadmap for the election of a regular Congress Chief by June 30. However, the deadline was extended indefinitely owing to the second wave of COVID-19.

She further pointed out her leadership on several issues including farners protests, providing relief and aid during the COVID pandemic. She also spoke about her leadership on atrocities inflicted on marginalised groups.
